FRENCH UNITY IN U.S.

GEN. GIRAUD WELCOMED TO VISIT CANADA (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 8. It is announced in Ottawa that General Giraud is to visit Canada after his talks in Washington. A correspondent says that General Giraud’s visit to Washington provided a remarkable demonstration of unity among Frenchmen in the United States. Prominent supporters of General de Gaulle were among the first to greet General Giraud, and one of their spokesmen said that they would give lvim the same allegiance as that given to General de Gaulle. The Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, said to-day that he hoped the State Department would soon be able lo make an announcement about Martinique. He pointed out that as General Giraud’s visit was purely military, political questions could not be discussed with him.
