PATRIOTIC FUND
COMMISSIONER in PACIFIC
Captain R. Herbert, of Dunedin, has been appointed - commissioner for the New Zealand patriotic Fund Board in the Pacific war area. Captain Herbert, Who is a son of JJr.' and Mrs!’ W. Herbert, of Waijtoiiaiti, was born in Christchurch and was educated in Dunedin. '' He was employed by an engineering firm ’until ”his' appointVhent ’as secretary of the 'Otago Clerical Workers’ Union.' He was an Otago representative at Rugby football and Was closely associated with the activities of' the Y.M.C.A. for 17 years.' He is a former president of the Otago Labour Representation Comniittee and resigned from the presidency of the 'Otago Trades Council to enter the army. Before'joining the army he was also a member of > the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council.
