STATE LIFE INSURANCE

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 7. The appointment of Mr. James Cowan Low as secretary and deputy commissioner of the Government Life Insurance Department was announced yesterday by the Minister in charge of the department, the lion. D. Wilson.

Born at Mosgiel and educated at the East Tnicri and Mosgiel District High Schools, Mr. Low joined the Government Insurance Department as a cadet in 1904. and all his service iias been in the head office, where he has occupied the position of cliiet clerk since 1934. He lias been a keen rille shot for over 20 years, and on two occasions gained a place in the King’s 50 at the Dominion rifle meetings.

Mr, Low served in Egypt an France during the last war, and wa in Germany before being demobilised lie was slightly wounded twice am awarded the Military Medal.
