GEN. GIRAUD IN U.S.

TALKS WITH PRESIDENT til a.m.) WASHINGTON, July 7. General Giraud arrived at Washington this afternoon to -confer with President 'Roosevelt. A' salute of 17 guns was lired as his plane'touched down at the airfield. He was welcomed by a reception " committee headed by Admiral N. D. Leahy, Chief of Staff to President Roosevelt. With General Giraud were three officers who had escaped from France in an Allied submarine last November. A member of General Giraud’s mission in Washington has been appointed to head the mission that will take over the French West Indies possessions, including Martinique, when the time comes.
