DRIVE FOR MEMBERS
G.H.S. OLD STUDENTS
At the monthly meeting of the general committee of the Gisborne High School Old Students’ Association, held this week, much satisfaction was expressed at the success with which the present drive for members was meeting. Many members had written in congratulating the association on its efforts, and wishing it all success.
The combined dinner and dance, at which it was hoped many of the younger members of the association would avail themselves of the opportunity to meet older members, and also the members of the committee, during a very pleasant evening, was set down for Wednesday, September
Mr. E. W. Bilham reported that the recent debate against the team representing the school had resulted in a victory for the latter, and it was decided to forward the school a letter of congratulation. Mr. L. T. Burnard adjudicated at a very interesting and amusing debate.
A letter was received from the librarian of the Turangatrui Public Library with reference to a drive being made by the War Library Service for books and popular illustrated magazines and other's of the "Digest” type for the fighting forces. It was decided' to make an appeal to all members or the association who had any such books or magazines to send them to the Turanganui Library for forwarding on to the War Library Service headquarters.
