American Casualty

Advice lias been received by Mr. Hobart La Mar, drilling superintendent for the New Zealand Petroleum Company, Limited, that his only son has been killed in action with the American Air Force in North Africa. Although, his son, who was 18 years of age, had never been in New Zealand, Mr. La Mar was well known in Gisborne when the company was conducting operations at Totangi and Morere oil wells. He is at present in New Plymouth.

The meeting passed a recommendation to the Wairarapa executive that delegates be appointed to meet delegates from the Sheep Owners’ Federation with a view to amalgamating the two bodies.
