HAUNTS IN SYDNEY NIGHT CLUBS CLOSED “CESSPOOLS OF VICE” SYDNEY, May 12. “Night clubs have been used as meeting places for enemy agents,” declared the New South Wales Premier, Mr. W. J. McKell. “In these places they have obtained information about troop and shipping movements.” The Premier was explaining why lie had issued regulations closing down certain night clubs. “The security of Australia is the purpose of the regulations,’’lie added- " Night clubs 'and sly grog shops are cesspools, of vice and have been a blot on our community life for years. They have helped considerably. to destroy, the efficiency of our fighting services.

"The military authorities are very disturbed about happenings in these places. They, together with the police, have made representations for the issue of these regulations.”
