CLUB OWNER CONVICTED MANSLAUGHTER CHARGES 19 a.m.) BOSTON, April 12. Barnett Welansky, the owner of ‘he Cocoanut Grove night club, was convicted on 19 counts of manslaughter in connection with the fire which claimed 490 lives on November 28. Welan sky’s brother, James, the assistant manager of the club and Jacob Goldfine, a wine steward, were acquitted. The prosecution contended the defendants failed to provide adequate safety equipment.
