BOMBING REPRISALS ALLIED AIR ATTACKS 2000 DEAD IN ANTWERP (British Official Wireless.) (10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, April 7. “The hour will come when the Luftwaffe will strike back blows more terrible than ever,” said the German High Command spokesman, referring to' the raids on Antwerp and the Renault factory at Billancourt The Berlin radio says that 111 persons were killed in the American raid on Billancourt on Sunday. A German communique states the casualties as a result of the raid on Antwerp on Monday have increased to more than 2000 killed or injured Photographs confirm the reports ihat considerable damage was done by Mosquitoes in recent raids on Mantes, in France, and Ehrang and Trier, in Germany, and underline the importance of the bombing of transportation in general strategy. Reports received in Stockholm from Germany state that it is estimated that 300,000, mainly women and children and men unable to work, we-' evacuated from Essen before the x'.
British raid. Six fighter-bombers made a hit-and-run raid on a south coast town in daylight to-day. One is believed to have been shot down. Bombs damaged a number of buildings. Other raiders bombed a south-east coast town shortly after daybreak. An Air Ministry communique reports that Bomber Command planes last night laid mines in enemy waters Two planes are missing. ; Early this morning about eight German fighter-bombers attacked a place on the south coast of England. Two others dropped bombs at a place on the south-east coast. Two raiders were destroyed. _
