200 FIGHTERS OUT
SWEEPS OVER FRANCE RAIL YARDS BOMBED SORTIE OVER BRITAIN (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Feb. 2. The Air Ministry states that Venturas of the Bomber Command, escorted by fighters, this morning bombed the railway yards near Bruges and at Abbeville. In a sweep over the St. Omer area, our lighters destroyed an enemy fighter. A Beaufighter of the Coastal Coinman this afternoon destroyed a German flying-boat off the south-west coast of Norway. None of our aircraft is missing. _ It is learned in London that 200 Royal Air Force fighters took part in the sweep over Abbeville and Bruges. Three enemy fighters dropped bombs on a place near the south-east coast of England, causing some damage and a small number of casualties.
