NEW BOMBING UNIT
DUTCH INDIES SQUADRON IN ACTION IN PACIFIC (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, Feb. 3. A Netherlands East Indies Army bombing squadron is now in action against the Japanese in the south-west Pacific. Their Mitchell medium bombers are reinforcing the United States and Australian bombing attacks of Japanese shipping and installations north of Australia.
All the pilots, bombardiers and most of the technicians are netherlanders or Indonesians who fought the Japanese for three months in the Netherlands East Indies. Some of the gunners and ground staff are Australians.
It is announced that Vice-Admiral Sir Conrad Helfrich, commander-in-chief of the Netherlands forces in the Far East, will arrive in Australia soon.
