RETREAT TO ODESSA?
POSSIBILITY FORESEEN BUCHAREST MEASURES (10 a.m.) LONDON. Feb. 3 The Rumanian morning papers comment at length on a decree ordering the partial evacuation oi Bucharest, ostensibly as a precaution against heavy air raids, says The Times’ correspondent on the German frontier. On the contrary, the milk tary authorities attribute the measure to other reasons, chiefly the necessity of providing quarters for German troops pouring in from Russia.
All people normally resident ii Bucharest have been ordered to fine quarters in nearby towns and village: and all staffs of hospitals, orphanages, factories, and workshops will, a:
far as possible, he accommodated outside the city. One presumption is that a certain high command envisages a retreat as far as Odessa, in which case Bucharest will become one of the most important German bases.
