? (10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, 14. The greatest display of military equipment ever, hold in Australia was watched by thousands of. people in Sydney’s streets oh'Saturday. The equipment, which has been on the military secret list, was shown publicly for the first time. " Among the features of tlic display were cruiser tanks with armoured steel hulls cast in oue piece. The exhibits, including anti-gas, camouflage, parachutes, wireless and. optical. equipment, indicated the groat range of Australia’s industrial War effort. A record number of austerity loan applications are expected to follow' the parade. Australia's war expenditure in the current? financial year is £5s»0,000,000. Of this the Government proposes to raise £300,000,000 by three great loan drives. A second austerity loan probably will _be launched in February. Australia’s greatest loan in the first world war was for £45,000,000 raised in 1918.
