OVERWEIGHT PIGS
Tho maximum weight for baooner pigs is to i)o rutlumi from ISOlb. to ICOlb. from January 1, and because tlie last Kaiti killing late before the holidays is December 10 the supervisor of the Tairnwhiti Pig Council. Mr. T. H. Outrain. urges producers to send to the works all pigs likely to be overweight by tho new year. Mr. Owtram said that the first date in the new year on which pigs will be killed is January G. "This means that any pigs on hand on December 1G weighing 1401 b. or over, carease weight, should be killed on that date/* he said, "otherwise there is every likelihood of these pigs being overweight by January G. . "The production of overweight pigs should be avoided, as it entails the producer in a considerable ioss. During the last killing season, that is 1041-1942, tho production of overweight pigs eost pig producers in New Zealand over 4170,000. Tins is too big a loss to be regarded lightly, and therefore farmers should make every effort to avoid sending this class of stock."
