TE KARAKA NEWS

Gratifying success attended the card evening held in the Waikohu Hall to raise funds for welcoming soldiers returning from overseas. A flag five-hundred tournament controlled by Mr. J. Goodley was well supported, players at the winning table being Mesdames W. Greggan and T. Markwici:, Messrs. C. G. Atkins and G. A. Wilkins. Other prize-winners were Miss L. Ruru, Mesdames E. F. Krause and Pikihoro Haami, and Mr. J. Barr. Another card evening will be held next week. Members of the Waikohu Golf Club held a social evening in the Parish Hall recently when an enjoyable dance programme was conducted to music supplied by Miss L. Kuril, with extras contributed by Mrs. To Pair! Prior to an adjournment for supper, the captain, Mr. R. H. Brown, announced the winners of the club’s animal competitions and the trophies were presented to the successful competitors by Mrs. W. V. R. Luttrell.
