BAYONETED TO DEATH

PRIESTS AND NUNS MASSACRED BY ENEMY (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, Dec. 3. Two Catholic priests and two nuns murdered by the Japanese on Guadalcanal were bayoneted to death because the priests refused to enter the United States lines and inform Major-General Vandegrift that the Americans could not win and should quit, according to the Sydney Morning Herald war correspondent in the Solomons.

He states that the American positions around Henderson airfield had been consolidated in preparation for possible Japanese attempts to land further reinforcements.
