HEROIC BRITISH SEAMAN

LONDON. Oct. 14. The Distinguished Service Medal for gallantry during the evacuation of Tobruk has been awarded to a leading seamen. Marmaduke W. S. C 'Snow. He rowed an officer ashore to obtain further orders. Although the harbour was completely surrounded, and in spite of heavy fire from enemy rifles and machine-guns/ he was still waiting for the-officer’s return when the last evacuation parties Were ready to go with them, but he said hir, orders were to "wait.
