HEROIC BRITISH SEAMAN
LONDON. Oct. 14. The Distinguished Service Medal for gallantry during the evacuation of Tobruk has been awarded to a leading seamen. Marmaduke W. S. C 'Snow. He rowed an officer ashore to obtain further orders. Although the harbour was completely surrounded, and in spite of heavy fire from enemy rifles and machine-guns/ he was still waiting for the-officer’s return when the last evacuation parties Were ready to go with them, but he said hir, orders were to "wait. That, was the last his shipmates saw of him. The seaman’s initials. W.S.C., stand for Winston Soencer Churchill.
