Port Ahuriri, and being the occupier of the premises, with knowingly permitting them to be used for the purposes of Habitual prostitution. The house had been under observation for some time and frequent warnings that the conduct in the house must stop had been ignored by accused, said Senior-Sergeant P. C. Felton. Sergeant O'Donnell said that seamen from overseas vessels frequently visited the premises, and much liquor was taken into the hoiise. Corroborative evidence was given by Constables Thompson, Slat and Williamson. Convicting accused and sending her to gaol for three months, Mr. Miller said this Was the maximum pehalty and he considered it inadequate in this case. “This is a particularly bad case,” continued the magistrate, “as accused was leading her daughter, who was assisting her in this shameful game, into a life of moral degradation.
