CANADIAN'S LUCK

BOMB DEFLECTS SHELL ESCAPE FROM DEATH (British Official Wireless.) (10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 28. By releasing a bomb just before an anti-aircraft shell hit him, a Canadian bomber pilot escaped destruction. The Canadian was attacking an enemy supply ship and pressed the bomb release. His bomb dropped down towards the ship, passing a Bofor’s shell in mid-air. The bomb hit the ship, which was later seen to be beached, and the anti-aircraft shell, which would have hit the bomb-rack and blown the plane to pieces, was deflected through the wing. .
