RESPIRATOR SUPPLY
BEDRIDDEN PATIENTS CIVILIAN SUPPLIES A supply of respirators to civilians is foreshadowed in a letter sent to the Cook Hospital Board yesterday afternoon, when the matter of bedridden patients was discussed. A letter from the Gisborne Emergency Precautions Service reported that'the Director of National Service had advised that a supply of respirators was to be made for bed-ridden patients, this applying particularly to city hospitals and those in vulnerable areas. “The careful storage of respirators and the care and maintenance of those issued cannot be too strongly stressed,” the director’s letter stated. “The department will shortly be issuing advice on the use and care of civilian respirators which, incidentally, will remain the property of the Government and are being supplied free of cost and of any freight charges.” The board asked the medical superintendent, Dr. R. J. B. Hall, and the managing-secretary, Mr. C. A. Harries, to supply the necessary details.
