MENINGITIS CASES
WELLINGTON INCREASE SPREAD OF INFECTION (P.A.) ' WELLINGTON, this day. Cerebro-spinal' meningitis, of which there has been always a few isolated cases for many months, has shovm if definite increase in the last few weeks according to a statement yesterday by the medical officer of health at linglon. Dr. Hubert Smith. He emphasised, however, that there was no need for the public to become, unduly alarmed. The increase was more or less general throughout the Dominion, but in the last week Wellington seemed' to have had rather,' more cases than other centres.
It had not been possible to trace the spread of contacts! A certain number of people all the .tirpe were carrying germs in their'throat, and it was desirable to keep children away frpm crowded places.
