INQUIRY REFUSED
SENATE COMMITTEE SHIP BUREAU’S ACTIONS (2.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 12. Senator Walsh,- chairman of the Naval Affairs Committee, declined a request by the Secretary of .the. Navy; Colonel F. Knox, to investigate the charges that the Navy Bureau of Ships was guilty of negligence or wilful misconduct in connection .with..the. cancellation’ of a coritract by the Shipbuilding Company to build 4 2 9° Liberty ships. Senator Walsh said the Navy Department should conduct its own'inquiry.
