FIGHTING IN TIMOR

AUSTRALIANS AND DUTCH ORGANISED RESISTANCE (Special Australian Correspondent.) (10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 10. Australian and Dutch troops are still fighting against the Japanese in Timor. It is revealed from General MacArthur’s headquarters that the Australians formed part of the garrison which landed on the island last December to forestall any attempt by the Japanese to use the territory as a base. Although strong Japanese forces have seized Koepang and Dilli, the Allied force has continued to fight. The resistance is described as organised and not merely guerrilla fighting.
