OBITUARY

MR. RICHARD BROWN The death of Mr.. Richai’d Brown, aged 52, occurred in the Cook Hospital last night. Born in Gisborne, the son of the late Mr. William Brown, a well-known farmer who resided in Riverside road, Mr. Richard Brown served his apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker with Messrs. Grundy and Shennan. After returning from the Great War. he took up dairy farming and specialised in the pedigree Jersey breed. He also took a keen interest in the Labour Party. He had not enjoyed the best of health for the past few months. Sympathy will be extended to his three sisters and four brothers, Mrs. J. Douglas and the Misses Nell and Mabel Brown. Gisborne, Mr. Edward Brown. Makarakn, Mr William Brown, Gisborne, Messrs. Fred, and Walter Brown, Sydney. The funeral will leave Cochrane’s chapel at 2 p.m. tomorrow for the soldiers’, plot at the faruheru cemetery.

MRS. W. A. DODS

After a short illness the death of Mrs. Louisa Jane Dods occurred in Gisborne this morning. Mrs. Dods was born in Queenstown 68. years ago and was educated in Dunedin, coming ns a young woman to Gisborne, where she married Mr. William Angus Dods at the age of 23. She had been a resident of Ngatapa for the past 23 years, during which period she took a keen interest in both young and old and district affairs. Mrs. Dods lesves to mourn her passing her husband, one daughter. Mrs. P. D. Tombleson, Waimata, and three sons. Captain Angus Dods. New Zealand Armed Forces. Messrs. C. 11. and H. S. Dods, 20th Century-Fox Films, U.S.A. After a service at the residence of Mrs. Morice, 121 Fox street, at 10,30 a.m. to-morrow, the funeral will leave ''or the Tr.rukeru c""'.' 'cry.

WAIROA RESIDENT

The death occurred on Saturday in Wairoa Hospital of Mr. Robert William Crarer at the age of 50 years. Mr. Crarer, who was born in Wairoa, was educated at the Wairoa School and in Napier, and served his time as a plumber. With his brother. Mr. T. S. Crarer, he later took over the Clyde Hotel from his father, the late Mr. Peter Crarer. Following a period at the hotel he took up farming at T!uhara, where he had been engaged up to the time of his illness. Fie married Miss Eileen Garwood. Frasertown, who, with their son, Robert, survive him. Mr. Crarer is also survived by his mother and .two brothers, Mr. T. S. Crarer, Wairoa. and Mr. Tapuae Crarer, who is now in Egypt, and one sister, Mrs. Bran. Shannon. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the Presbyterian Church for .the Wairoa cemetery!" The death has occurred at the Marist Brothers’ Novitiate, Claremont, Timaru, of the Rev. Brother Fidel is Somerville, aged 60. Brother Fidclis was well known to Marist boys throughout the Dominion, particularly in the Auckland Province. He taught at Sacred Heart College and Vermont street school, and at Hamilton and Gisborne.
