SHORTAGE OF WOOL

ARRANGING SUPPLIES (PR ) WELLINGTON, this day. Replying to an urgent question by Mr C A. Wilkinson (Nat. Egmont), in the House of Representatives,- the Minister of Supply; the' Hon. D. G. Sullivan, said he was aware of the shortage of knitting wool, cream flannel, and white wool particularly required for baby wear. He regarded such supplies as being of prime importance and by a rearrangement ot defence contract? certain domestic mills would produce additional quantities of these materials immediately. In the past, baby wool, said the Minister, had come largely from the United Kingdom. Representations had been made through the High Commissioner urging the necessity for a special export release of quantities for New Zealand. Official inquiries were also being made in Australia.
