Minister’s War Whoop

The Red Indian war whoop of Brigadier-General P. J. Hurley, United States Minister to New Zealand, has become a feature of functions which he has attended, and it was heard for the first time in Christchurch when General Hurley was entertained at lunch by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. “I’d like to give you the Choctaw yell before I leave,” said General Hurley, and then gave a whoop as good as any Red Indian’s.
