N.Z. OFFICER’S TRIBUTE A tribute to the work of. the British soldier was paid by Major L., I. This group had done splendidly, but the reconnaissance work ,of units; like the King’s Royal Rifles and .the Hussars was little heard of. These men, he said, had been operating throughout North Africa for months on end, getting little leave and suffering many casualties, but bringing in information of the utmost value to the Allied Forces, Major Day also referred to the work of the British troops with the Indian brigades. In each brigade there, was a battalion of British soldiers. who acted' as shock .troops and set an inspiring -example to the Indian” battalions.
