WELL UNDER AVERAGE gisborne”figures Gisborne’s rainfall for thd half-year is substantially below the average, the six months up to the end of June contributing only 15.43 in., compared with the average of 24.62 in. The first half of the previous two years were also well below the average, but the total for the first six months of 1942 was even below those. Only in one month, January, during the present year has the rainfall exceeded the average. The monthly rainfall figures are shown in the following table in comparison with the corresponding months of the past two years;—
