THEFT AS A SERVANT
Wr A clerk, Dudley lan Hulbert Fitch, ■ft aged 24, who had pleaded guilty at V Nelson to two charges of theft as a m servant, was sentenced to 12 months ■£ hard labour by Mr. Justice Johnston I- in Wellington. w. Mr. Carrad, for the prisoner, said If* Fitch had been receiving £4 a week, L' out .of which his accommodation cost £2 2s. He tried ,to live on a far p higher standard than his wage allowed. He had stolen just under £2OO in 11 months. , , , . His Honour said that, although Fitch had not previously been before the court, inquiries showed that it was i apparently not the first time he hau stolen aa an employee.
