SOLDIERS ON LEAVE

CONDUCT IN SYDNEY X SYDNEY, June 17. The Lord Mayor Of Sydney, Aiderman Crick, said in an interview that ■he considered the behaviour of men of the fighting forces on leave in Sydney was generally satisfactory._ It could be described as “not too bad.” Alderman Crick was commenting on statements made by the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Sir Frank Beaurepaire, and Commonwealth Ministers that the conduct‘of men of the various forces on leave in Melbourne was discreditable to the forces and a danger to the morality of that city. “The brown-out is more stringent in Melbourne than it is in Sydney,” he said, “and light is the best protection of the morality of any community.”
