Because of difficulty in securing labour to pick the present maize crops iff the Gisborne district, a large reductibn in plantings during the coming Reason is expected, according to Mr. C. Tietjen, speaking at a meeting of the Gisborne District Council of Primary Production. Mr. Tietjen said that the shortage of labour might have the effect of reducing the next crop sown by 25 to 50 per cent.
