CANADIANS’ TOLL
JAP. PLANES AT CEYLON (9.30 p.m.) OTTAWA. June 28. The Air Minister, Mr. C. G. Power, announced that seven Canadian airmen, who were recently posted to Ceylon, had destroyed eight Japanese planes during the raid on Ceylon during Easter. Squadron-Leader L. J. Birchall, who was killed, had first spotted the planes and given the warning.
