TWO WITH ONE BURST

NAZI PLANES DOWNED N.Z. PILOT’S SUCCESS (Special Correspondent.) (9.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 28. Pilot-Officer B. Hay, of Auckland, shot down two German aircraft with one burst of fire while “intruder” patrolling over an enemy aerodrome in Holland. He sighted and chased a Junkers 88 and fired his guns, whereupon the enemy plane soared up and collided with a second German aircraft which Pilot-Officer Hay was unable to identify, but he saw both crash in flames. Pilot-Officer Hay said: “It was very economical on ammunition.” He is posted to the same station as Flying-Officer D. J. Scott, D.F.C.. of Greymouth, who was recently promoted to flight-lieutenant.
