HOME GUARD’S WIN
AMERICAN BASKETBALL Further American basketball matches were played iat the Y.M.C.A. this week. In the first name the young Y.M.C.A. team was defeated by Air Training Corps No. 1. Positional atui general play made up for the lack of height in the Y.M.C.A. team. The handling on both sides was good and made for' fast name. The match in which the Home Guard defeated Air Training Corps No. 3 was probably the fastest played so far in this season’s league matches, and showed clearly an impiovement in the physical condition of the players. The older Home Guard team played a steadier name and their general positional play was superior. In the final stage Air Training Corps went ail out to gain the advantage, but Home Guard emerged the winners by 16 points'to 10. It is hoped to arrange a match with the Air Force at an early date, and also members of the 'High School, who have been busy with examinations and have yet to take the floor. They should prove a hard team to beat.
