WAIROA PERSONALS
The Bishop of Auckland, the Rt. Rev. W. J. Simkin, arrived at Wairoa on Thursday, accompanied by Mrs. Simkin, and is the guest of the Rev. J. G. B. Talbot and Mrs. Talbot, The Vicarage. A welcome was extended to the bishop in the Parish Hall this afternoon, while to-morrow he will conduct services at St. Paul’s, Wairoa, Takitimu Hall, Frasertown, and Nuhaka. The Wairoa parochial district was the first area to which Bishop Simkin was appointed on his arrival from England in 1911. On Thursday he visited old parishioners and part of his programme on Friday was to address the pupils of the Wairoa District High School. Bishop and Mrs. Simkin will leave for Napier on Monday. Mrs. J. D. Parminter. Apatu street, has received advice that her son, Leslie, has been invalided home from an island post and is a patient in a New Zealand camp, hospital where he is progressing satisfactorily. Leading Aircraftman W.. Balfour is spending a few days’ leave with his parents in Wairoa.
