DAMAGE REVEALED

BIG COLOGNE FACTORY COUNTER TO U-BOATS (British Official Wireless.) (1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, June 5. A recent reconnaissance has shown the great extent of the damage done at, the Humboldt works in Cologne. Nine large multiple-bay factory buildings are completely gutted and five or six smaller buildings damaged. Though it produces engines and machinery of other kinds,, the .Humboldt plant’s chief contribution to the German war effort is Diesel engines for submarines and, consequently, it is (almost as important as the Augsburg factory, which was bombed last April. The damage to the Humboldt works is another effective counterblow to the submarine menace.
