Progressive Five-Hundred Four tables were requisitioned at the fortnightly progressive five-hundred party conducted by the members of the Taruheru Ladies’ Social Club at the home of Mr. and Mrs. It. League of Mothers A most interesting: talk on the life of women in China by Mrs. Miskelly delighted the members at the monthly meeting of the Gisborne branch of the League of Mothers, held in the Le Grand Cafe on Tuesday afternoon. There was a pood attendance, and business was dealt with under the direction of Mrs. E. A. Muis. Mrs. Lockwood was responsible for the Scripture reading:, and the thought for the i month, “Pie who does the best he can is always improving:,*' was contributed by Mrs. Bradley. Mrs. Selwyn Wood, a visitor from Wnitotara, was heard in two elocutionary numbers. Mrs. Miskelly and Mrs. Wood were warmly thanked and each was asked to accept a. charming: shoulder spray of flowers. Children’s Fancy Dress Ball The Selvyu Hull was en fete on Saturday night, when a successful children's plain mic fancy dress ball was held in aid of the funds of the 2ZM Club. The organisation of the function was in the capable hands of "Aunt Daisy” (Mrs. Elliott), who had the assistance of an energetic ladies' committee. There was a good attendance of children and adults. The supervision of the floor was efficiently carried out by Mr. Hart, and Mrs. Riley was responsible for the music, extras being contributed by Mr. O'Neill. A. delectable supper was served under the direction of the committee.
