Stalf Nurse Edmondson, of the Cook Hospital, lias tendered her resignation m order to take up maternity training. Miss Margaret Elliott is to report for duty at the Cook Hospital as junior house sui'geon on May 3. Dr. Alexander will terminate his appointment on May 2. Mr. G. C. Burton, child welfare officer for the Gisborne district, who is leaving at the end of the week to take up a new post with the department in Wellington, was met in Ruatoria prior to the commencement of the Magistrate’s Court session and presented with a fountain pen by Mr. If. J. Hayden on behalf of the honorary child welfare officers and police constables on the East Coast. Constable N. H. Tuck spoke on behalf of the constables, both he and Mr. Hayden thanking Mr. Burton for the great assistance he had been to them and congratulating him on his well-earned promotion.
