CHINESE SEAMEN
A party of Chinese seamen provided some amusing interludes for visitors to the St. Clair Beach, Dunedin. They arrived at the beach in four taxicabs, driven by women taxi-drivers, and it was not long before they had a circle of children round them. When the reason for this became better known the ring of children grew considerably larger. The Chinese were buying ice creams and soft drinks for the young folk. They later left, as theV arrived, in a fleet of taxis.
