PILOT’S LONG NOSE

LONDON, Nov. 24. Twice this week a Polish pilot has attempted to get the top of his nose cut off so that his oxygen mask will fit more comfortably. First attempt was made at the Central London Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, Gray’s Inn Road. “It is so uncomfortable when I am flying,” explained the pilot with the “too-big nose.” But the surgeon declined to oblige. Refusing to take “No” for an answer, he went to the Golden Square Hospital. Unknown to him, these two hospitals are now one, and he was received by the same nurse. Recognising him aj once she smilingly said: “Sorry, We cannot cut a perfectly good nose.” But the pilot is still hoping.
