MR. NASH IN U.S.
POST IN WASHINGTON air TR jp from n.z. PORTFOLIO CHANGES (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this clay. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, announced to-day that he had received advice that the New Zealand Minister to Washington, the Hon. W. Nash, had arrived at San Francisco. Mr. Fraser adclfcd that Mr. Nash was accompanied by Mrs. Nash, Mr. T. R. Aicken, private secretary, LieutenantColonel Pharazyn and Mr. Bruce Turner, assistant secretary. They proceeded to the United States by air. It is understood that Mr. Nash will retain his portfolios during his absence. Consequently they will be administered here by Ministers in an acting capacity.
It is believed that Mr. Fraser will take Finance, the Hon. A. 11. Nordmeycr Customs and Land and Income Tax. the Hon. H. G. R. Mason will take stamp duties, and the Hon. H. T. Armstrong soldiers’ financial assistance.
It will probably be necessary to legalise the appointment to representative overseas positions of Ministers and members of the Legislature, and consequently the necessary legislation will come before Parliament.
