NEW BATTALION

N.M.R. IN WELLINGTON A further battalion of the National Military Reserve, to be known as the Uth Battalion, is to be formed by voluntary enlistments of men in the cities of Wellington and Lower Hutt, Petone Borough, and their environs. There is already one battalion which was formed shortly after the outbreak of war, from returned servicemen. It is hoped to recruit for the new battalion every man in the districts mentioned who served in 1914-18, is medically fit for home service but is not yet with the colours. There will not ’be enough of this class for a battalion so that enlistments will not be restricted to those who served in the last war. It is possible that men returned from the present war may come forward for this new battalion.
