QUINN TO COMPETE The use of the Childers Road Reserve and the club’s equipment was granted to the Y.M.C.A. Scout troop at a meeting of the committee of the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club last evening. It was decided that some of the officials of the club should help the Scouts to conduct their sports on Saturday. The committee also decided that the starting time of the sports each Wednesday evening should be advanced from 5.30 to 0 o’clock. It was also decided that all trophies belonging to the club, and which were normally competed for during the season, would be available for competition again this season. . A letter of condolence, is to be sent to Mr. T. Haisman, expressing the sorrow of members at the loss of his son, Private P. Haisman, a former member of the club. Members of the committee welcomed the news that Graham and Brian Quinn, w'Aswere on leave from military camp, would be competing at the club’s sports to-morrow evening. As Graham Quinn is an ex-New Zealand sprint champion it is expected that some excellent running will be seen. To-Morrow’s Handicaps Good sprint fields,- as well as satisfactory entries in other events, have come forward for the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Har-i rior Club’s third weekly sports meeting on the Childers Road Reserve to-morrow afternoon.
