ASSAULT AND LANGUAGE

Sentences of one month’s imprisonment on each of two charges, the sentences to be cumulative, were imposed by Messrs. C. 1 E. Smith and H. L. Tempest, J.P.’s, in the Magistrate’s Court in Tolaga Bay yesterday on a-young Maori, Rewai Pahina, who pleaded guilty to assault and the use of obscene language. On a charge of disorderly behaviour, to which he also pleaded guilty, the accused was convicted and discharged. Constable W. H.< Bradley stated on Saturday that the? accused -struck another person in the face, the latter being rendered unconscious. Prior to that a complaint had been received from a storekeeper regarding the use of obscene language.
