DAMAGE BY HAIL

HASTINGS FRUIT CROPS (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day.. Some damage was caused to pip fruit crops on Saturday afternoon by heavy hail showers in the Hasting; district. Hail fell in sharply defined areas, some orchards suffering severely v/hile neighbouring areas escaped damage. With the hail came the first appreciable rain for some time and the gardens will benefit. The weather is fine but overcase to-day after showers overnight.
