Mr. H. Bretherton, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Bretherton, The Heads, Wairoa, has received notice of his appointment to the Tanks Corps. He left for camp to-day.

Dr. J. B. Burnett, Melbourne, is visiting Gisborne on route to the United States, for which destination he will leave by Clipper plane. Dr. Burnett, who formerly was an active geologist, represents the Vacuum Oil Company in the management of its field interests in Australia and New Guinea.
