FIRST INNINGS WINS JIM BARBOUR’S 91 NOT OUT City provided the principal highlights of the club cricket programme in Gisborne on Saturday afternoon, for they hit up over 209 runs .against Old Boys-Civil -Service, in a declared first innings, anil then wiped the floor with the 'opposing. batsmen, employed only two bowlers and disposing of the Old Boys-Service side for 24 in their first knock. A City player, Jim Barbour, scored 91 not out, and from the way lie was batting was fairly certain of turning the century hut for the declaration. lie was well supported, for only four of the nine batsmen tried failed to make a respectible total. When Old Boys-Service batted, A. McLean took five of their wickets for 18 runs, and P. H. Dow three for six. Following on, the combined side ditl better, C. Fraser making 46 not out, and the innings standing at 111 for six wickets down when stumps were drawn. In the other senior A Grade match, Marist easily heat G.H.5.0.8., putting on 213 in their knock, of which G. Delamore made 72 not out, P. McCarthy 44, and J. Egan 43; and then disposing of their opponents for 130. J. Roos top-scored for G.H.5.0.8. with 29 not out and T. Turbitt, R. Fyson, and G. Slade all helped well. In the senior B Grade match between Marist and G.H.5.0.8. White, M. Allen put on 41 and M. McMahon 27 for Marist, contributing largely to the total of 120, Taylor taking five of the Marist wickets for 32 runs. D Wilson, 28, was the best of tile G.H.5.0.8. batsmen, M. Taylor, 18, being! the most useful of the others. Three wickets fell to a Marist bowler, Raggett, in this innings. Scores: —
