MONEY FOR CHRISTMAS
DISPATCH TO TROOPS EARLY REMITTANCE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A few days now remain for relatives and friends of members of the New Zealand armed forces serving overseas to remit money to them for the coming Christmas season. The Army, Navy and Air Departments have issued several intimations that the bank receipts should be forwarded not later than Monday next. “This will ensure, as far as possible, the availability for soldiers’ use before Christmas of the moneys transmitted,” said the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, to-day, who also drew attention to the fact that the maximum amount that could be remitted to a soldier each remittance year was £3O in New Zealand currency. In cases where that sum had been exceeded, there would be no option but to return the amount to the sender.
