A.R.P. IN AUSTRALIA GEN. BLAMEY OUTSPOKEN (Reed. Nov. 19, 2.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, Nov. 19. Lieut.-General Sir Thomas Blarney, commander of the A.I.F. overseas, said he thought that the extraordinarily large sums being spent on air raid precautions in Australian cities were out of proportion to the risk involved. Australian cities could only be attacked by sea-borne aircraft, whose numbers would be limited by circumstances, he said. Aircraft-carriers themselves would be highly vulnerable targets as had been proved on several ocasions.
