HOME INDUSTRIES UP FEWER LIVE STOCK Entries for the Poverty Bay A. and P. Show next week have kept up remarkably well, and in some sections small increases have been noted, although the total is more than 200 lower than a year ago. The entries have suffered most in the live stock sections, pigs being an exception, but home industries and produce have more than maintained last year’s standard with small increases. Among the live stock, the biggest decline is in the sheep, while cattle are only a few short of last year, and by the \ime a few additional entries are accounted for there may be no decline at all. Horses and horse competitions are also not very far behind last year, while with pigs there is a small increase. Poultry remains at approximately the same level as 12 months ago, while dogs are only slightly down.

The increases in the produce and home industries sections are not large, but they are encouraging. The fleece section remains approximately the same.

In the following table is given the progress total for this year’s entries, together with last year’s totals:—

This year’s entries at present in the hands of the secretary, Mr. W. £. Chamberlain, total 2885, including a few which have come in since the above tabulation was compiled. Last year there were 3100 entries.
